Yvonne Jara Da Silva, Instructor
Born to Spanish and Portuguese parents in Frankfurt in 1981, Yvonne began to dance Flamenco, with Alicia Utrillas Anaya, at the age of 10. Through her intensive work with teachers such as María García, Melanie Delgado, Maria Serrano, Juan Siddi and Leonor Leal, Yvonne has continually developed her skills in recent years. By 2010, she began to share her knowledge and enthusiasm for flamenco as an instructor at the María García Flamenco Dance School.
Laura Jimenez Peñalver, Instructor
Laura was born in Barcelona. At the age of 7, she began to study classical Spanish dance with Montse Moreno, as well as learn to play the castanets. At the same time, she also took ballet and jazz dance lessons with Susana Arevalo. She continually educated herself further at La Tani Flamenco School, as well as with Cristina Casanova, Montse Moreno and Mar Bezana in Barcelona.
Since 2014, Laura has taught at the María García Flamenco Dance School.
Azucena Rubio Calle, Substitute Instructor
Azucena Rubio was born in Seville. She took lessons with Renate Wagner and Rebecca Marmol. She broadened her knowledge with well known teachers such as Manolete, Giro, Sara Baras, Tatiana Garrido, Pilar Ortega, Ana Maria Lopez, Joaquin Ruiz, Juana Amaya, Ester Marin and Leonor Moro. Azucena tours throughout Europe, with the Encuentros Dance Company, Antonio Andrade, La Cali y el Rubio, Tierra y Luz, Café del Mundo, the Compañia María García and with her own company, ‘Las Flamencas’.
Since 2014, Azucena has taught at the María García Flamenco Dance School.
Katja Schönfeld, Instructor
Katja was born in Cologne. By the age of 4, she was interested in dance. She took lessons in ballet and modern dance for 11 years. In her search for another form of expression through dance, she came across flamenco, which immediately captured her imagination. Her first lesson with Trinidad and Stephani Scholz was followed by an education in flamenco with Tomás Zybura and Cristina Haas at the Cologne Flamenco School, Contratiempo. Katja has also participated in many workshops in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Seville, amongst others, with Belén Maya, Rafaela Carrasco, Adrián Galia, Rafael Campallo, Isabel Bayón, Ángel Atienza and Alicia Márquez.
From 2005 until 2010, Katja taught at ‘Contratiempo’ in Cologne and after moving to Frankfurt, she has taught at the María García Flamenco Dance School since 2011.
Lourdes Utrillas Anaya, Instructor
Lourdes was born in Barcelona in 1977. As early as the age of 6, flamenco had captured her imagination after she took her first lesson with Manolito de Cadiz. For many years, Lourdes was continually educated at ‘La Singla’ in Barcelona, and she began to teach at the age of 18. Her work with performers such as Juan Siddi, Maria Serrano, Leonor Leal and María García has helped her to continuously refine her own skills. Lourdes has taught at the María García Flamenco Dance School since 2010.
Adela Yepes Rodriguez, Instructor
Adela was born in 1988 in Spain. At the age of 4, she began taking ballet and flamenco lessons. Later, she attended the Academy of Danza Maroc, where she spent 10 years studying flamenco, Spanish dance and modern dance. In 2011, she taught at the Clare King School of Dance (Cardiff). Since 2013, Adela has taught Flamenco Dancing for Children at the María García Flamenco Dance School.
